On October 23rd, 2015, my grandmother Nicole was diagnosed with a mass on her brain. After going through a major brain surgery, we found out she had Glioblastoma, a very aggressive form of brain cancer. She fought this battle hard, but on February 6th, 2016 she passed away. We have been devastated by her loss as a family and will miss her each and every day.
After talking to a few of my hockey buddies I learned that a team mate lost his grandmother to pancreatic cancer and another lost his grandpa to cancer as well. We decided as a team to get involved with the Tour de Pier to raise money to fight cancer as the Jr. Kings Fights Cancer Group. With 35 members, we raised over $15,000 for the Tour de Pier and had an awesome time. It felt great knowing a group of ten year olds could do something so incredible! We can’t wait to do it again on May 21st, 2017.
Our goal is to raise $30,000 this year as we ride to raise money for brain and pancreatic cancers as well as support for those facing a cancer diagnosis. Please consider contributing towards my fundraising efforts today. Together we can make a huge difference so that no one faces cancer alone. Let’s ride in place and move charity forward!
