Kristin S, a Hermosa Beach resident and Los Angeles-based ophthalmologist has been riding the Tour de Pier since the very first year.  Kristin’s Aunt Barbara had passed away from pancreatic cancer in 2013, and she wanted a way to do more for pancreatic cancer research. She enlisted the help of her mother and sister to create their team, Barbara’s Bikers and started fundraising in her honor. Kristin says, “Barbara was the most selfless, generous, sweet, warm and loving mother, sister, grandmother, daughter.” Kristin and her family wanted to ride for Barbara and the other special family members they had tragically lost to pancreatic cancer. For Kristin, the Tour de Pier is impactful because, “It’s it is a wonderful way to get together, to be outside, to do something healthy, but something so important for all of our lives to help cure cancer.”
