Josh Barnes

aka Love and Loyalty | Artist Spotlight | The Art of the Ride – Tour de Pier

This spring, The Art of the Ride is bringing creativity and community together across Manhattan Beach as local artists transform stationary bikes into unique works of art. Josh Barnes, also known as Love and Loyalty, is a graphic artist based in Hermosa Beach.

Inspired by the beach lifestyle, Barnes' work celebrates the visual culture of the California coast. His pieces often feature crashing waves, surfboards, palm trees, and the patterns of beach life, capturing the energy and movement of the ocean and the communities that live alongside it.

Known for his bold colors, intricate linework, and layered designs, Barnes works across a variety of mediums. His creative journey began with spray paint on skateboards and surfboards before expanding into canvas, graphic design, custom framing, and screen printing. His art carries a distinctive tone, blending playful coastal imagery with detailed composition and a sense of dreamy, expressive whimsy.

The finished piece captures the movement of the ocean, the momentum and love behind the fight to cure cancer, and the joy of coming together for something larger than us.

For The Art of the Ride, Barnes brings his signature style to a stationary bike, turning it into a vibrant tribute to the surf and skate culture that shapes life along the South Bay coastline.

Josh's bike heads to Rock & Brews in El Segundo as part of The Art of the Ride, the public art series leading up to Tour de Pier 2026. When you dine on April 15th, 20% goes back to Tour de Pier – it’s the perfect day to dine out and give back!
