Timmy is our “SOUL SURVIVOR.” After battling a number of autoimmune diseases starting at the young age of two and a half, his life changed forever when he was diagnosed with Stage 3 Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma in February of 2011. An avid golfer, he was living in South Florida with his wife and infant daughter pursuing his lifelong dream of playing on a professional tour.
Timmy immediately uprooted his family and moved back to New York to begin his grueling nine rounds of inpatient chemotherapy. Throughout the long months of intense treatment, his positive attitude and remarkable strength never wavered, even during the darkest of days. Then in November 2011, after receiving the news that the chemotherapy did not work, Timmy underwent a stem cell transplant. Under the close watch of doctors, he was able to return home in nineteen days to begin his recovery to health with the loving support of his family and friends.
Over the next year, Timmy slowly began to regain his strength with the ultimate goal of returning to the golf course. His wife and sisters encouraged him to try Mandy Brooks’ class at Soul Cycle and he instantly became hooked. These classes began to change his life, finally for the better!! Timmy loves not only the physical workout, but all of the positive mental energy Mandy and her classes exhibit. Timmy had found his “road to recovery” – and it happened to be on a bike!!
Timmy’s family and friends are honored today to ride alongside him and Mandy in this year’s Tour de Pier. We are forever grateful to all those who have shown us overwhelming love and support and are beyond proud to be a part of such a wonderful cause. A BIG thank you to all who are participating today!! Timmy is our proof that together we can truly make a difference!!
