A City-Wide Public Art Experience Comes to Manhattan Beach
Five Bikes. Five Local Artists. One Cause.
This spring, art and community come together in motion across Manhattan Beach. The Art of the Ride is a city-wide public art activation leading up to Tour de Pier 2026. Over five weeks, five local artists will transform stationary spin bikes into bold, one-of-a-kind works of art, each one placed at a different South Bay business location for the community to discover.
It's part art gallery, part community experience, and part movement toward a cancer-free future. Tour de Pier has raised millions of dollars to support pioneering cancer research and vital patient programs. Every rider, donor, and supporter helps move science forward and bring us closer to breakthroughs that change lives. The Art of the Ride brings that spirit into the community in a new way, reminding us that progress happens when people come together with purpose.
The Art of the Ride is more than a public art installation โ it's a celebration of the community that powers Tour de Pier each year.
Turning the South Bay into a Gallery with Purpose
Kicking off with our amazing partners at the Bay Club, a new artist-designed bike will be unveiled each week at a prominent Manhattan Beach location. These installations turn everyday spaces into pop-up galleries that celebrate creativity while building momentum for Tour de Pier.
Each bike represents something bigger than art. It represents the power of community coming together to support groundbreaking cancer research and patient support services.
Because when our community comes together, cancer doesn't stand a chance.
The Weekly Bike Drops
Every Wednesday starting March 25, a new bike will appear at a different South Bay destination. Each location will host a different artist's bike until it's time for the next drop.

Meet the Artists
Five talented local artists have been invited to bring their creativity to life on these stationary bikes. The impressive lineup features Wendy Stillman, Tom Neill, Derek Billings, Josh Barnes, and Dan Gardner.
Each artist will put their own spin on the project, transforming a piece of fitness equipment into a unique work of art that reflects movement, resilience, and the spirit of the South Bay. Throughout the campaign, we'll be introducing each artist and sharing behind-the-scenes looks at their creative process.
Follow the Bikes and Win
Follow along throughout April as each bike is revealed, artists are featured, and the South Bay becomes a moving gallery with a mission. As you discover the bikes across Manhattan Beach, you'll also have a chance to win one!
๐ธ Snap a photo with an Art of the Ride bike and share it on social media to enter the giveaway. Each photo earns you an entry, and if you visit all five installations, you'll unlock bonus entries. At the end of the series, participants will have the chance to win one of the artist-designed bikes.
Follow @tourdepier for artist spotlights, behind-the-scenes moments, and weekly bike drop announcements. And when you spot a bike in the wild โ don't forget to stop, snap a photo, and share the ride.
Because together, we're spinning creativity into progress and moving closer to a cancer-free future.
